One of the most frequent species of tree in European forests.

The heartwood is light brown to yellow brown and darkens later. Winter felling and intensive log protection are necessary. This European white oak is still one of the most important veneer wood in north part of Europe.

A very important proportion of the logs presents many kind of defects. This makes the price of nice quality white oak logs quite high compared to some other European species.
