What is an ATG?

An ATG (General Technical Approval) is an independent, favorable technical assessment of a construction product or system for a specific application. The evaluation is carried out under the responsibility of the BUtgb and is based on:

  • technical studies
  • tests according to relevant standards
  • defined application conditions

An ATG with certification also means that the product is subject to ongoing production and conformity control.

What does BENOR stand for?

BENOR is a quality label for construction products, managed by an independent Belgian organization under the supervision of NBN (Belgian Standards Institute).

The label demonstrates that a product meets the technical standards and specifications (PTV) established for that product, and that periodic external checks on production and quality are performed.

BENOR certification is not legally required but is often requested in specifications and by clients because it provides confidence in quality and compliance.

What exactly does our BENOR ATG 3250 cover?

Solid Binnendeuren’s wooden fire-resistant single and double EI₁ 30 swing doors have been awarded the BENOR/ATG mark, following tests conducted according to the NBN EN 1634-1 standard.

The technical approval:

  • confirms EI₁ 30 fire resistance, determined according to NBN EN 1634-1
  • takes into account extrapolations according to NBN EN 15269
  • applies to the complete door set, not just individual components

The door sets have been evaluated for use in, among others, masonry, concrete, and aerated concrete, provided the wall thicknesses and execution details defined in the ATG are respected.

What does this ATG/BENOR mean for our customers?

Thanks to the publication of ATG 3250, professionals can now verify for themselves what is technically allowed within the certified configurations.

In combination with the BENOR context, this provides:

  • clarity on performance and application limits
  • support for specifications and project verification
  • an objective basis for technical justification
  • the ability to check the exact scope of the approval
  • consultation of the permitted configurations and applications

This increases transparency and makes correct on-site application easier.
